Getting To Know Us!
Jeff and Monica Sayad are the
new owners of The Coffee Critic. This may come to a surprise
to many of you but please rest assured that we are committed to following
in the rich traditions established by Linda Nederman-Mountanos, the Founder
of The Coffee Critic, Inc.
Linda Nederman-Mountanos opened her
first The Coffee Critic in 1987. Linda was introduced
to specialty coffee many years ago, after meeting Mark P. Mountanos, a
fourth generation coffee importer. On that first evening, she remembers
drinking no less than eight cups of Celebes Kalossi. She is in the coffee
business to share with others the enjoyment of savoring an exceptional
cup of coffee. Her store in Ukiah, California is a testament to the fact
that she loves what she does. Jerry Graham, "King of the Backroad" has
rated The Coffee Critic, established in Ukiah in 1994,
"BEST COFFEE".
Large glass bins display the freshly roasted beans at the bean counter,
so that CRITICS may view the varieties of coffee roasts. The Coffee Critic
has one of the largest selections of coffee beans, including these fine
coffees from around the world: Zimbabwe Estate "La Lucie Royale", Yauco
Selecto and Jamaica Blue Mountain, Australia Highview Select Extra Fancy,
and Kona coffee grown in Hawaii for Captain Cook Coffee Company Ltd.®,
which is the oldest existing coffee company in Hawaii. Popular Organic
coffees are available from Sumatra, Guatemala and Mexico, including the
Fair Trade 5 Country Organic Blends.
At the Espresso bar CRITICS may cup these coffees, or select one of the
many specialty espresso drinks, including some originals found only at
The Coffee Critic. For tea lovers, The Coffee Critic is excited to introduce
the "Next Generation" of Lindsay's Teas. Steeped in family tradition,
Lindsay's Teas strives to create exceptionally fresh and flavorful tea
experiences through their new extensive selection of the world's finest
and most exotic teas and tea blend. Everyone is encouraged to create their
own blends and to experiment, which is all a part of The Coffee Critic
philosophy that coffee and tea are to be "experienced, not gulped!"
With the Internet being an essential part of how we communicate, research
and spend our free time, more and more people seek places where they can
retrieve their e-mails and search the Internet while traveling. The Coffee
Critic now has DSL Wireless High Speed Internet access available. This
service is FREE and it provides our CRITICS with lap tops the opportunity
to access the Internet in a relaxed atmosphere, while enjoying their favorite
specialty coffee or tea.
The Coffee Critic, through The Mountanos Family Foundation, is continuing
its efforts to support various causes, involving children in particular.
For a number of years we have sponsored the Luminaria Ceremony at the
American Cancer Society's main fund raising event, the Relay For Life.
We are proud to be a part of this nationwide effort to help funding much
needed research, targeting a cure for cancer.
®
The Coffee Critic is very much a part of the world of racing
and the devotion to the racing community and its fans have had such
an impact that Linda created a special blend known as Racer's Blend®
and Racer's Blend® Decaf. More and more of our friends in the racing
community are discovering that our Racer's Blend® "is good for a
few seconds a lap"!
Thank You, all of you CRITIC Racers, for your continued support
and friendship.
The Coffee Critic has proudly participated, and is still involved
in many racing venues - NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, NASCAR Winston
West Series, NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Tour Series, BF Goodrich Trans-Am
